VA Tomah
500 East Veterans Street, Tomah, WI 54660
Project Manager: Mike Kapitan
Field Managers: Jose Baltierrez, Luis Cruz
In efforts to revitalize the VA Medical Center of Tomah, the building is undergoing renovations. Many parts of the building were constructed back in the early 1900s, meaning there was asbestos containing materials throughout. Prior to the building’s renovation, Balestrieri had to come in and remove the asbestos containing materials. Some of these materials included the floor tiles, mastic, and pipe insulation. Balestrieri’s team also contributed to the project by performing selective interior demolition throughout the building.
One of the greatest challenges that this project faced us with was scheduling. There were outside factors that prevented the project from starting on time. Our crew was ready to start the job but was forced to pivot when there was a delay in the start of the project. In the construction industry, situations like this occur often. Our ability to cooperate with owners and other contractors as well as being flexible allows us to continue to work effectively even in times of delay.
