St. Augustine Preparatory Academy
Location: 6801 N Yates Road, Milwaukee, WI 53217

Cardinal Stritch University closed its doors in 2023 after over 80 years of serving as a Catholic college in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Although the closing of the University ends a long-lived, historical era, it also brings new opportunities to the community. The campus was purchased with the plans of creating St. Augustine Preparatory Academy.
The old school building’s hallways were lined with large quantities of lead-glazed blocks, which had to be carefully removed to access fittings and other asbestos containing materials within the walls. One of the major challenges of this project was to complete the job within the tight schedule given by the owner. Balestrieri was contracted to perform asbestos abatement and selective interior demolition throughout the building. Our crew was able to work collaboratively and effectively to exceed expectations while simultaneously making room for future generations in the years to come.
