The Milwaukee Repertory Theater (Milwaukee REP) is one of the largest and most acclaimed regional theaters in the country, known for producing a wide range of theatrical works. Housed in a historic building in downtown Milwaukee, the theater has been a cultural anchor in the community for decades. As part of a transformative redevelopment initiative, the REP launched a multi-phase renovation project designed to upgrade its facilities, expand performance spaces, and enhance the overall audience experience. Our team was brought on to perform selective demolition throughout the theater, laying the groundwork for these major improvements while ensuring the integrity and character of the historic structure were preserved.

Our work focused on precise, selective demolition across various interior areas of the theater. This included removal of interior walls, ceilings, and finishes. Due to the theater’s ongoing operations and architectural sensitivity, the project required a high level of coordination, safety planning, and non-invasive demolition techniques.

This renovation marks a major investment in the future of the arts in Milwaukee. Once complete, the upgraded theater will expand performance and rehearsal spaces, improve accessibility and audience experience, modernize infrastructure, and allow the REP to serve more educational programs.

Milwaukee REP will break ground on $78 million expansion in May, 2024.
